The Arizona Genomics Institute's BAC/EST Resource Center,
headed by Dr. Rod Wing and Dave Kudrna, is a state-of-the-art, highly automated facility
that constructs, maintains, and distributes the largest collection of plant
and fungal BAC libraries in the world on a cost recovery basis.
The Center
has constructed and acquired many BAC & EST libraries including rice, cotton, maize,
barley, soybean and sorghum. The BAC/EST resource center supplies these libraries as affordable
high-density hybridization filters, clones and libraries in support of several NSF,
USDA and international plant (rice, maize, tomato), plant-pest (rice-blast) and NIH mammalian (mouse,
Duck billed platypus, Wallaby etc.) genome projects.
